Most of the art I create comes as a result of actively communing with my own INNER VOICES. The image often erupts full blown during a meditation, or dream, and occasionally as an offshoot of a journaling effort. I have come to value the communications from each of them, and amazingly to me, there are others for whom they speak to as well.
I started painting while entering the interrupted sleep cycles of menopause, waking every day at 3 AM. Unable to go back to sleep, I started journaling, then sketching in my journals, then finally moved on to painting. I went for a year creating a painting every night between 3-7, then crawling off to bed for a few hours before my retail gallery job. This passage called me to obtain a degree in Painting from Towson University, and while my approaches have changed – intentional meditation instead of sleepless nights – the conversation remains with the deeper mysteries of who and what I am, and we are as humans during our eyeblink of a life.
